Tucker Hamblen

Head of J.D. Program

Holly and Fletcher opened up River City when Tucker was only 8. Subsequently, he spent a large part of his childhood running around the gym and participating in any and all activities. Travel soccer consumed much of his athletic endeavors until the age of 12 when he decided to join the men’s gymnastics team here at River City. At the age of 14, he shifted his athletic focus solely to gymnastics where excelled up to level 10. However, a spinal fusion at the age of 16 stifled his ability to continue. It was then that he went out for Varsity Soccer at Deep Run High School. He enjoyed his time as a two-year starter. After high school, Tucker attended and graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.S. in Foreign Affairs and Spanish. Since graduating, he has followed his passion by working in the youth fitness industry here at River City Youth Fitness.

Perspective at RCYF:

I love working at River City! The best part of my job is seeing the excitement on a kid’s face when he/she learns a new skill. For me, the skill itself is not as important as understanding the process it took to achieve the skill. Setting goals and seeing tangible results as a result of concentrated effort is a life lesson every kid should learn as early as possible.”

More about Tucker:

Tucker’s role in the operations at River City dates back to his middle school days. At the age of 12, Tucker bought a vending machine with his life savings and attempted to learn the intricacies of operating a small business. Due to creative differences, he, unfortunately, had to let his sister (Madison) go on day 2. As he got older, he used the vending machine to fund his itch to see the world. Since graduating high school, he has lived in Wyoming, backpacked solo across Europe and Southeast Asia, and ridden a bicycle unsupported from Humpback Rock in Charlottesville, VA to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California. His competitive attitude still persists today as he competes in a men’s recreational soccer league.
