Sara Harpster

Head of XCEL Team

Sara was born and raised in the Richmond area. She discovered the sport at an early age where she reached level 3. Her passion for gymnastics then switched to competitive cheerleading where she competed until her senior year in high school. After graduating from Tucker High School, she attended VCU where she majored in exercise science. She has expressed interest in a graduate degree in nutrition. Prior to working at River City, she has worked and been around kids for the majority of her adult life. She has worked at Gold’s Gym as a manager of the child development center. Her tenure at River City began with an internship in the winter of 2017. She has been working here ever since! She excels at coaching both team and recreational classes. Her passion for kids is unparalleled and can be seen with her high energy and ability to always extend a word of encouragement.

Perspective at RCYF:

“My goal is to instill both confidence and strength in each individual child. When equipped with confidence and strength, children have the potential to be more successful inside and outside the gym. I love seeing the physical, emotional, and social development of a child. Whether you take gymnastics at River City for a session or ten years, the skills you learn here have the potential to last a lifetime!

Personal Info:

Outside the gym, Sara loves spending time with her husband Garret and daughter Blair. Her daughter Blair is heavily involved in cheerleading and recently joined our team program. Blair, also, can be seen running around trying to stay out of trouble. Her summer nights are busy with Innsbrook After Hours concerts. Her family loves country music! She has a strong affinity for being on the water. Every summer her family goes to the beach to escape real life for a while!
