Lindsay Hamblen

Team Coach

Lindsay was born in Rotterdam, Holland! Her father’s military career led her all over the world before settling down in Chesterfield, Virginia. Gymnastics was an integral part to her early childhood. She competed until her senior year as a level 8 earning many individual and team state and regional honors. After graduating from Thomas Dale High School, Lindsay attended Longwood University where she earned a B.S. in Exercise Science. Her passion for gymnastics reignited and led her to begin a coaching career following her college graduation. She has worked at River City for ten years. Her role has morphed and changed over the years. She currently coaches both the J.O. and XCEL programs. She enjoys choreographing new beam and floor routines as well as teaching the current compulsory routines to the young athletes. Her attention to detail and trained eye have led to success throughout all levels.

Perspective at RCYF:

“My gymnastics teammates are some of my best friends. They were in my wedding! I love watching young kids build relationships not only with coaches but also with their peers. The hours required to train gymnastics can seem daunting but are made easier when strangers become as close as family. Building a strong support system is imperative for an individual, especially children. It is fun watching the team kids learn to lean on each other and lift each other up both inside and outside the gym.”

Personal Info:

Since joining the River City staff, Lindsay’s personal life has flourished. She and Tyler (eldest son of Holly and Fletcher) got married in September of 2016. They have enjoyed and adjusted to the lives of newly weds. Most recently, they welcomed their first child to the world. Whitney Deborah Hamblen (born on March 1, 2019). If you do not see her laying on the front desk or being carried around you may be able to hear her. Hopefully one day she will be walking around taking classes here at River City! Outside of the gym, her and Tyler love to go to concerts, be on the water, and spend time with family and friends. She recently saw her favorite childhood artist (Garth Brooks)!
